Wes:

Our lesson study today is on Jesus' Great Commission. Our goal in this effort is to give knowledge because where there is knowledge, there's power.

Music:

If my people which are called by my name, if my people which are called by my name, if my people which are called by my holy name will humble themselves and seek my face.

Wes:

So we're gonna go to the word of God and and build up to this great commission, but got a couple of verses here that Jesus leads up to the great commission. We're looking first at Luke thirteen and five.

Esther:

I tell you, nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Wes:

This is an imperative statement. It's a have to that repentance and he would have used the word teshuvah because that's the Aramaic Hebrew word. Teshuvah means a journey. Sometimes we think of repentance as just a one time act, but really it it becomes a lifestyle and it's a beautiful thing. It's a wonderful thing.

Wes:

But he says that if we don't do this thing, we can do a lot of other things, but this is a necessary thing for us to spiritually survive, prevail, and make it to heaven. If if there's no repentance in our life, we we can't connect with God. Amen. Now the Hebrew word for teshuvah, which is is the word for repentance, teshuv means to return to Yeah, which is a diminutive name of God, return to Yeah and Jesus claimed to be God. So we are returning to Jesus, returning to Christ.

Wes:

Let's go to another verse that speaks about the same thing from a little bit different perspective. Matthew four and seventeen.

Esther:

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.'

Wes:

So here's another poignant statement. This is powerful that when we do repent, when we get on this journey of Teshuvah, we are begin to operate in the kingdom of God. And I know that every child of God if you have faith in in Christ now and you're listening to this, that that you wanna be able to operate in the kingdom of God. And he's given us the formula that's required to be able to enter into and operate in the kingdom of God. We've had two perspectives so far as as we have to do it if we we wanna make it with God.

Wes:

And when we do it, we're connected with God. We're gonna turn to Luke twenty four forty six and seven, and Jesus is gonna talk about his Great Commission. This is this is the thing that Jesus commanded his followers to do. It becomes really the culmination of his ministry. He did miracles of healing.

Wes:

He even raised the dead and and brought sight back to the blind and and hearing to the deaf and cleansed the lepers and fed the 5,000 and and, of course, even in in all of those miracles, he said a scripture that he spoke about, woe, Chorizen, woe, Bethesda, woe, Capernaum. In those cities, I did my mighty works, but no one repented. So we can have miracles. We can experience miracles. We can be a part of a miracle.

Wes:

But without repentance, we're not operational in the kingdom and we're not fully obedient to the command of Jesus. So let's go to hear what he says is the most important thing that he wants his people to preach throughout the world.

Esther:

And said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached

Wes:

in his name That what should be preached?

Esther:

That repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations.

Wes:

Beginning at Jerusalem. You see, repentance and remission of sins go together. There's no remission of sins without the repentance. And of course, the Bible says there has to be a shedding of blood for the remission of sins. And he he talks about how he had to suffer and go to the cross, and he shed his blood.

Wes:

That blood is precious blood, my friends. Without it, we would have no hope. Amen. But with the blood of Christ, we have hope, and we have hope Thank you, Lord. In repentance.

Wes:

Some people think of it as an ugly thing or a bad thing. No. It's it's a wonderful, beautiful, anointed thing. It it can bring joy to your life. It can bring happiness.

Wes:

It can bring wholeness, contentment, peace, integrity. Through the journey of repentance, we can become great servants of God. We can achieve much. When we connect with him in in a journey of repentance, we're returning him continually all day long. He becomes a friend.

Wes:

And he said if if we love him, if we obey him, he will dwell with us, and he will dwell in us. Amen. And this is the precious promise that we have for eternity, my friends. Amen. We if you love him, we look for him.

Wes:

We look for his return. And and he said that this message has to be preached throughout all the world. Every man and woman in in the world has to have the opportunity to hear this message. This is why we're we're doing this podcast, not because we think we're any kind of great speakers or any anything great. There's nothing great about us.

Wes:

We're broken vessels, but we have a desire to follow the will of God and to obey him. So this podcast is an attempt to preach, like he said, his great commission, preach repentance and remission of sins in his name. In his name is everything that we would ever hope or dream for. God bless you folks.

Music:

Amen.

Wes:

In Jesus name.

Music:

Amen.
